5 Reasons Why Positive Mindset is a Key to Success

The biggest hurdle for those who want to succeed in business, launch an innovative product or effect big changes in the world is often a lack of self-confidence. One of the most important steps you can take toward achieving your goals in business (and in life) is to develop an attitude that will work with you, not against you.

Here are 5 Reasons Why Positivity is a Key to Success:

1. Believe in yourself and the world will too

63In her world famous TED talk, American scholar, author, and vulnerability researcher, Brené Brown speaks about studying the differences between successful people and those who fail. During her research, she found that she could break the people she studied into two camps: “folks who are always wondering if they’re good enough,” versus “people who really have a sense of worthiness.”
If you believe you are good enough to raise your hand at a meeting, worthy of a promotion, or that your idea really is a game changer – your peers are more likely to as well.

2. We work better when we are happy

There are quantifiable benefits to cultivating and maintaining a positive attitude. A 2014 study from the University of Warwick showed that happiness makes people more productive at work – 12% more productive to be precise.

3. Your Attitude is Infectious

Being a positive person will rub off on those around you, and happy team is a more productive team (see above). Likewise, potential collaborators or customers will be more likely to want to work with you if you have a positive attitude. We are drawn to upbeat people, ‘go-getters’ and the like. Positivity is a powerful tool in business and life.

4. Positivity shows resilience

Positivity is not necessarily the same thing as happiness. You would not be happy about getting a parking ticket, but you can approach that situation with positivity – ‘at least the car was not towed’ – rather than negativity.
Someone with a positive outlook, even in the face of a stressful situation or a potential failure, is someone who has developed a productive attitude, showing a resourceful and resilient nature.

5. Positivity is good for your mind and your body

Want to succeed in business? Be the fittest. An overwhelming 11amount of studies have proven that a positive mindset is directly linked to maintaining a healthy mind and body. There are fewer cases of mental illness or trauma and far fewer cases of heart disease and obesity in patients who repeat positive affirmations each day. Plus, positive people don’t just feel better they look better too!
